Give Kids a Smile Day

Give Kids a Smile is a national program sponsored by the American Dental Association. One Friday in February, dentists all over the nation join together to provide free services to underserved children. Give Kids a Smile was designed to provide chair-side education, preventative and restorative care to low-income children who do not have access to care.

The Partnership for Children's Dental Health, a program of Community Health Services, along with many other community partners coordinates and organizes Give Kids a Smile Day in Mecklenburg County each year. In 2007, 454 Charlotte Mecklenburg School students received dental treatment and oral health education totaling almost $200,000.00. Thirty schools and sixty-eight dentists participated in twenty-eight private practices. Drs. Laxer, Long & Savage are proud to be strong supporters of this program.

This year, as in past years, our office will open its doors to children in need. Drs. Laxer, Long & Savage and staff will be volunteering their time to provide free cleanings, fluoride, radiographs and restoration needs to dozens of deserving children in the Charlotte area.
